Roasted medium-dark, this Yirgacheffe offers notes of dried fruit that merge with cocoa and nut at the base to produce a flavorful cup with elegant crispness and distinct aroma.

The country of Yemen earns bragging rights as the world's first commercial producer of coffee, but the ancestral roots of the Arabica (Coffea arabica) tree have been traced to Ethiopia. The genetic diversity of Ethiopian coffee is unmatched globally as there is 99% more genetic material in Ethiopia’s coffee alone than in the entire rest of the world. The result is a coffee lover’s dream. There are no coffees that are spoken of with the reverence that Ethiopian coffees are. Chief among them is the Yirgacheffe.

Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world, yet its centuries-old coffee traditions are woven richly into the fabric of its culture. A social gathering known as the Ethiopian coffee ceremony is an example. In keeping with custom, villagers welcome guests to their homes with food and conversation, but their collective reverence for coffee dominates the event. During the ceremony, coffee is roasted, ground, brewed and served.
