Pumpkin Spice Flavored Coffee
            coffee spoon   Tasting Notes
Pumpkin Spice gourmet coffee adapts easily to any occasion. It dresses up a festive dinner party as effortlessly as it complements morning toast. Accustomed to flattery for its playful spiciness suggesting homemade pumpkin pie crowned with mounds of whipped cream, this flavored coffee is smoothly reassuring just the same. Pumpkin Spice captures the warm flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg and doubles the pleasure with an aroma that lifts the spiritand seals the deal. (See calorie and nutrition facts below).

Pumpkin Spice's reassuring flavors were made for iced drinks. Brew the coffee normally, cool to room temperature, refrigerate until chilled, and add brown sugar or honey to taste, ice, and cream if desired. For a frostier beverage, brew double strength, cool to room temperature, chill, and pour into the blender with plenty of ice and milk, ice cream, or flavored yogurt. Dust lightly with nutmeg and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Pumpkin Spice renders a delicious, light-bodied cup of drip coffee when the automatic drip or the manual drip method is used. Brewing with a French press or a vacuum pot will accentuate its flavor. Both methods produce extraordinary coffee since they pull flavorful oils into the brew. Paper filters used in drip brewing, on the other hand, trap a coffee’s oils and mute aromatics.

Pumpkin Pie Latte Recipe
The best brewing method for all gourmet decaf coffees is the French press. The press will accentuate Pumpkin Spice Decaf’s flavor and aroma, qualities that suffer as a result of decaffeination. The vacuum pot is also a good match for decaf since it intensifies varietal character. Brewing with 10-20% more coffee grounds will also enhance flavor.

1 cup espresso or strong freshly brewed Pumpkin Spice coffee (brew with 6 tbsp. ground coffee for every 12 oz. water to achieve espresso-like taste)
2 cups 1% or 2% milk
4 tbsp. vanilla syrup (see recipe below)
1/2 tsp. ground pumpkin pie spice
Ground nutmeg (optional)

In a medium saucepan, combine milk and pumpkin pie spice. Heat until steaming, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and add vanilla syrup. Blend mixture on high until foamy (2-3 minutes). Add 1/4 of milk mixture to each coffee mug and pour hot coffee over mixture. Top off with milk foam and dust with nutmeg. Serves 4.

For a low-calorie version, use skim milk and reduce amount of vanilla syrup added.

Vanilla Syrup
1 cup water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Bring water and sugar to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla extract, and cool. Store in a covered container. Keeps for up to two weeks.
